Formulator

What does it do?

Drag-and-drop editor

Build forms from field tiles. Every field has its own label, description, placement, size and validation settings.

Entries

Submissions are stored in their own tables. List, search, open, export, print and resend emails from the admin.

Multi-page forms

Split long forms into pages with a progress indicator, and let people save and continue later.

Conditional logic

Show, hide, require or skip fields, pages, buttons, notifications and confirmations based on other answers.

File uploads

Single and multi-file uploads, chunked for large files, with a content-type whitelist and a no-exec upload folder.

Notifications and confirmations

Email notifications with merge tags, and confirmations as a message, a page or a redirect.

Spam protection and limits

Honeypot, CAPTCHA field, entry limits and scheduling for when a form is open.

Calculations and products

Number, calculation, product, quantity, shipping and total fields for order forms and quotes.

Migrate from Gravity Forms

When Gravity Forms tables exist, Forms → Migrate from Gravity Forms does a dry run, migrates and reports.

First five minutes

What do I do right after activating?

A first result before you read anything else.

1. Add a form

Go to Forms → Add New, give it a name and drag Name, Email and Textarea tiles onto the canvas.

2. Set the notification

Open Settings → Notifications and put your email address in the To field. Save the form.

3. Put it on a page

Open a page with Edit with Kira, drag in the Formulator form widget and pick your form. Or paste the form's shortcode into any page.

4. Send a test

Submit the form from the front end, then open Forms → Entries to see it saved.

Fields and modules

What is in the download?

Field types come from the plugin's includes/fields folder. Quiz, Webhooks and PDF are modules in the same download, loaded from the start; there is nothing to buy or switch on.

Standard fields

Text, textarea, number, email, phone, website, password, date, time, hidden, HTML, section, page break and submit.

Choice fields

Select, multi-select, radio, checkbox, image choice, consent, list and repeater.

Advanced fields

Name, address, file upload, CAPTCHA, calculation, product, option, quantity, price, shipping, total, donation and credit card.

Post fields

Post title, content, excerpt, tags, category, image and custom field, so a form can create a post.

Not included

No payment gateway: product, quantity and total fields compute a price, but no card is charged.

Quiz module

Mark choices as correct, score entries and show results in confirmations and notifications.

Webhooks module

Send entry data to any URL on submission, with a request format, field mapping and a log.

PDF module

Generate a PDF from an entry with a template, attach it to notifications or download it from the entry.

Install

How do I install it?

Two routes. Either one takes about a minute: a download, an upload and a click on Activate.

With Git Plugin

In your WordPress admin, open Plugins, click Git Plugin, paste the repository URL and click Install, then Activate.

https://git.web9.live/pcgraphics/formulator

Get Git Plugin

Upload the zip

Download the zip, then in Plugins click Add New Plugin, then Upload Plugin. Choose the zip, click Install Now, then Activate.

What does it need?

  • WordPress 6.5 or newer
  • PHP 7.4 or newer
  • Works without a page builder; Kira adds a form widget

How do I update it?

Formulator checks its repository for a newer release tag. A new version shows up under Dashboard → Updates next to your other plugins; click Update. If you uploaded the zip by hand, install Git Plugin to get the same update checks.

Is it really free?

GPLv2 or later, public repository, no paid tier, no license keys, no account. Use it on as many sites as you like, yours or your clients'.
